Msd Tach Wiring
The msd ignition features a tach output terminal on the side of the unit.
Msd tach wiring. If you are using the magnetic pickup input green and violet wires to trigger your msd ignition you will need the pn 8920 tach adapter. Run the white wire from the tachometer to the wiring for the instrument lights. For more information on tachometers and msd tach adapters see the tachometer section on page 6. Some vehicles with factory tachometers may require a tach adapter to operate with the msd.
Https amzn to 2rirmf9 thanks for watching. Some vehicles with factory tachometers may require a tach adapter to operate with the msd. The tach output wire produces a 12 volt square wave signal with a 20 duty cycle. The tach output terminal produces a 12 volt square wave signal with a 20 duty cycle.
Just a little video i made to help you understand the way a tachometer should be wired. Connect the white wire to this wire using a crimp on wire tap. Close the two halves of the connector around the white wire and the instrument light wire. The tach output terminal produces a 12 volt square wave signal with a 20 duty cycle.
The pn 8920 will correct the operation of most voltage triggered tachometers that do not work directly off the tach output terminal of the msd control. This terminal provides a trigger signal for tachometers a shift light or other add on rpm activated devices. If the tach still registers incorrectly install this tach adapter. The msd ignition features a gray tach output wire that provides a trigger signal for tachometers a shift light or other add on rpm activated devices.
